Which Facial Is Right for Me? An RN Esthetician's Guide (Columbus, OH)
You finally decided to invest in your skin. You open a booking page and see dermaplaning, chemical peels, nanoneedling, a Korean Green Facial, a Cosmelan Peel. Now what?
If you've ever closed that page because you didn't want to pick the wrong thing, you're not alone. Most people don't know which facial they need, and they shouldn't have to. That's my job.
I'm LaQueasha Anderson, a Registered Nurse and Licensed Esthetician at Your Sqin Beautique in downtown Columbus. In this guide, I'll walk you through how to match your skin concern to the right treatment, and what to do if you're still not sure.
Start with your skin concern, not the treatment name
The right facial depends on what you want to change. Find your main concern below.
Active breakouts, clogged pores, congestion: Corrective Acne Facial or Corrective Chemical Peel, starting at $135.
Dark spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma: Corrective Chemical Peel or Cosmelan Peel, starting at $149.
Fine lines, rough texture, dullness: Glass Skin Retinol Peel or BIO Peel with dermaplaning, starting at $200.
Peach fuzz, makeup not sitting smoothly: a dermaplane facial from our Essential Services.
Healthy skin you want to keep that way: the Signature Facial or a maintenance peel from our Essential and Maintenance Services.
More than one of these, or not sure: Just Fix My Skin, starting at $99.
This list is a starting point, not a diagnosis. Skin type, sensitivity, medications and your skin's history all change what's safe and effective for you.
What Essential, Maintenance and Corrective mean
My services are grouped by what your skin needs right now.
Essential Services are your foundation. These include dermaplane facials, the Signature Facial, Teen Facial and Back Facial. They're a great first visit if your skin is generally healthy and you want a deep clean and glow.
Maintenance Services keep results going between bigger treatments. Superficial chemical peels, the Korean Green Facial, nanoneedling and rejuvenation facials fit here. They're best once your skin is in a good place and you want to keep it there.
Corrective Services target a specific problem. This is where you'll find the Corrective Acne Facial, Corrective Chemical Peel, Glass Skin Retinol Peel, Cosmelan Peel and BIO Peel. Corrective treatments usually work best as a series, with a plan built around your skin.
Why guessing can cost you
Picking a treatment based on a trend or a friend's results can backfire. A peel that's perfect for one person's dark spots can irritate another person's sensitive skin. Treating acne with the wrong exfoliation can trigger more inflammation and leave marks behind, especially on deeper skin tones.
The wrong choice usually doesn't cause harm, but it can mean spending money on a service that doesn't move you closer to your goal.
As a nurse, I'm trained to assess before I treat. I look at your skin history, current products, medications and how your skin responds, then choose what will actually work.
Still not sure what your skin needs? Skip the guesswork. Book Just Fix My Skin and I'll assess your skin as a nurse and esthetician, then treat what it actually needs. Services start at $99. Book Just Fix My Skin →

Home care and next steps. You leave with aftercare instructions and a clear plan, including whether a treatment series makes sense for your goals.
Services start at $99, and your final price depends on the treatment chosen. Your $25 deposit goes toward your balance.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I need a facial or a chemical peel?
Facials cleanse, hydrate and maintain healthy skin. Chemical peels go deeper to target acne, dark spots and texture. If you have a specific concern you want to change, a peel or corrective treatment is usually the better fit.
Is it safe to get a chemical peel on darker skin?
Yes, with the right peel and the right preparation. Deeper skin tones are more prone to hyperpigmentation, so the peel type, strength and prep matter. This is one of the most important reasons to have your skin assessed first.
How often should I get a facial?
Most people do well with a professional treatment every four to six weeks, which matches the skin's natural renewal cycle. Corrective series may be spaced closer together.
What's the difference between an esthetician and an RN esthetician?
An RN esthetician brings nursing training to skincare, including clinical assessment, an understanding of medications and health conditions, and a safety-first approach to treatment.
What should I do before my appointment?
Complete your intake form, and let me know about any new medications, retinoids or recent sun exposure. Avoid waxing or exfoliating the treatment area for a few days beforehand.
Let a nurse choose for you
You don't need to know the difference between a BIO Peel and a Glass Skin Retinol Peel to start getting results. You just need to show up.
Book Just Fix My Skin at Your Sqin Beautique, 360 E Long St in downtown Columbus. I'll assess your skin, choose the right treatment, and give you a plan you can trust.
